A.R.T. NEW yORK THEATRES

Located off Broadway in Manhattan, New York, the Alliance of Residents Theatre /New York is a 15,000 sq ft interior fit-out consisting of two large theaters, multi-purpose performance spaces, dressing rooms and public lobby and reception spaces. Capitalizing on it's unique location within a new development high rise building presented an opportunity to create a signature theater that rethinks the paradigm of a theater as a neutral and fixed 'black box'.  The design of the theatres is comprised of a series of large mobile walls, enabling each production to specifically calibrate the spaces for each unique performances. This approach allows for spatial reconfiguration and acoustic specificity unprecedented in theatres. The project is anticipated to receive LEED Silver certification.
